About Me

***Update: It has been a while since I first started this blog, and I definitely need to bring this page up to date.  My husband and I got married in June of 2013, and as of October 2015, I am a MOM! : )  Our sweet little boy was born in October, and I am so incredibly thankful to be able to stay home with him right now.  Everything else on here is still pretty much true.

My name is Lisa.  I'm a teacher in Asheville, North Carolina, and I absolutely love my job.  I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in preschool, which my very patient siblings can attest to.  They were my first "students" whether they wanted to be or not.  Now I feel so blessed that I get paid to do what I love.  That's not to say that teaching is without its stresses, but I can't imagine being happier doing anything else.

When I'm not teaching, I love to get outdoors and go backpacking or camping.  There's just something about sitting at the top of a mountaintop, looking out over an endless horizon, listening to nothing but the sound of the wind rustling in the trees that really puts everything in perspective for me.  Of course I also like the adrenaline rush of other outdoor activities- like rock climbing, rappelling, and white-water rafting!

At home, I enjoy cooking, doing crafts, and dreaming up more home-improvement projects than I may ever get around to.  I also love to organize.  My friend Cassandra calls me the queen of lists because I have a list, schedule, budget, or plan for just about everything.

My Love of Arts and Crafts Started Early

It's a good thing I like to plan, because right now I'm also planning a wedding!  My fiance (Steven) and I are getting married in June of this year, and I am so excited to start our lives together.  I won't get too sappy, but he is such an amazing man and truly the person I'm meant to spend the rest of my life with.  I have never been so happy!

This blog is meant to be a creative outlet, a place to share craft ideas and how-to's, recipes, teaching strategies, and organization tips, but also just a way for me to stash and organize my thoughts and ideas.  Thanks for stopping by!
